UPDATE: HAMISH MACDONALD - ROUND 1&2 GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Hey guys, I've just wrapped up the first two rounds of the German Enduro Championship here in Dalhen, Germany.

On Saturday we had 12 laps, one test each lap, it was more of a sprint Enduro format than a classic enduro. We had a short transfer to the test then after the test also a small transfer back to the paddock. Overall I’m happy with how I rode!

Day one started great, with a new bike and new setup it took a few laps to gel with the feeling of the bike. There was just no grip with the front wheel and it was pushing over the corners a lot, I dropped my forks just a little bit to allow some more weight on the front wheel for the hard pack conditions and tight corners and this change helped immensely.

For Day two the organisers reversed the whole lap, this meant the special test in reverse also. It definitely was a lot more technical in the opposite direction plus rain during the morning made the rocks and roots really slippery. The reverse track flowed nicely, there were a lot of holes and bumps you could jump (caused from the previous day) and I lead from start to finish and took the win on Sunday also.

However, I didn’t enjoy that some of the marshals decided it would be more fun to throw rocks inside the line of one technical section. We had a small rock garden inside a chicane and it was hard enough anyway, but they were doing this all day. On the second to last lap they had created a big wall three or four stones stacked up on top of each other. I stopped and yelled at them that they were !@#$ idiots and continued on my test. I was pissed off because it had been happening all day and as the first rider out every lap I was cleaning the line for the other riders.

We are riding on the limit the whole test and then these guys have to go and make it more difficult and dangerous for us - On the final test I came past the marshals again (I didn’t actually see this as I was so focused) but heard he apparently had his yellow flag and was trying to hit me as I rode past, I only heard him yelling some angry German words.

Note: this is not indicative of all the Marshalls and I appreciate the voluntary time they put into the sport.

Anyway, Luca, my German team mate ended up on the podium also, so great results for the Team. Thanks to Marcus and everyone that helped. Looking forward to the next round in Waldkappel in Hessen, 22nd August 2021.

Thanks to all - Hamish Macdonald #76
