PSA: NEW HOME FOR MATAMATA MCC

Best Track you never heard of. The Matamata Motorcycle Club have secured a brand new facility to run their MX club days and twilight events. With a beautiful backdrop of the Kaimi-Mamaku rangers, this is set to become a fantastic destination for the Waikato moto family.

Those who are regular Matamata MCC club riders will know that the club has had a secure property for many many years, but recently lost the ability to run there, needing a new location. The word was put out and the call was answered. And if you don’t mind me saying so, it is quite the step up in track facility.

Situated on the side of a dairy farm, the track is not new, and has been used by the farmer’s son. With the addition of Matamata MCC to the roster, the track got a bit of an overhaul to what it is today. I managed to get out there a couple of weeks ago during a practice day was treated to a beautifully ripped track that provided so much variety.

There is a cool uphill start that takes you to a couple long bends and switch back that are off camber. There are a couple table tops that are safe, a drop off if you can get enough speed, a section through the trees and a huge long horsepower hill that goes up and up and up.

There is also a section much lithe Screw-U from Unadilla MX track where you head down into a sharp U-Turn then snake back up again. This is a super fun track.
