FLAT TRACK RETURNS TO WESTERN SPRINGS SPEEDWAY
For the first time since the ’80s, Flat Track is heading back to Western Springs Speedway for the South Pacific Flat Track Champs!
Saturday, February 13 will be the South Pacific Flat Track Champs held at Western Springs Speedway. In support of the Flat Trackers will be Sprint Cars, Midgets, F2, TQ, and kiwi kids.
14 Riders are locked in with competitors coming from all over the North island for this warm welcome back to the big show. This is the biggest stage in New Zealand Speedway and it’s a great honor to be invited to run at The Springs. And that is thanks to Blake Gillard and Scott Wilkins - two of the guys doing the behind the scenes work and getting the Flat Trackers a chance to show Auckland and the rest of NZ what it’s all about.
Spectators will have plenty of bike action to see with three, 6-lap heat races to determine the starting order for the feature race. The South Pacific Champs will finish with an 8-Lap feature to crown this new title.

Title favourite would have to go to Gillard himself - the Aucklander having honed his skills at Rosebank Road and is undefeated through the 20/21 season. Wilkins will also prove to be a threat, as well as road racer Toby Summers, Aussie Jahn Jones, Flueury Fulton, Dave Cole, and Solo couple Billy and Jess Graham. But really, with this the first time at Western Springs, it could be anyone’s day out on the track.
Also, since it’s the return of Flat Track racing to Western Springs (last time at the springs was in the 80s), any spectators that turns up on their motorcycle will get cheap admission of only $20 (instead of the usual $30 for general admission) and will all be parked close to the entry.
Get your skates on and head into Western Springs on February 13 for what will be an amazing event of four and two-wheeled racing!
