STORY BY PICTURES: AROHENA SCHOOL TRAIL RIDE

The Arohena School Trail Ride was held on the first day of Autumn and what a cracker it was too. The birds were churping, the sun was shining and the baking was phenomenal for a School fundraiser. It was a quality day out on the moto.

The Arohena trail ride had punters park up just down the road from the school, on the local sports field. The parking filled up pretty quick with overflow having to look for another location.

Before tackling the big track, the little ones cut their teeth on the Mini track and dug a solid line into the hard, dry farm land.

Leaving the pits for the 30km loop via the first race of the day. The dust lingering a sign of the drought running through the Waikato, as well as the breeze that was not there at all.

The tracks kept you on your toes. When the farm land started to get a little boring, the track would throw in a few variations and obstacles to keep the interest levels high.

Out the back of the 30km loop emerges a sign of things to come. Not many trail rides come with views like this.

And when you thought you were the baddest dude on the track, the AA sections made sure you took a second to reflect on that notion.

Even though this may look like nothing, Its much steeper than it looks with lovingly places cattle ruts all the way to the top. Getting up first time was very rare.

Coming down the other side proved just as tricky for some and the want for front brake use was high.

A very dusty Daz after sampling the soil quite a number of times - but eventually conquering the AA section in one piece. That gear is actually black - not brown.

The track was lined with so much forest that is was eye watering not to be able to take a hard right and head under the canopy. Hopefully next year the team can get some tree access - Amen.

A quick splash through the creek crossing to cool yourself down never disappoints.

Back at the pits, you can instantly relate how good a School trail ride will be, depending on the quality of the donated baked good. This was a Yummy…er.. I mean good ride!

Pies - even BT would be happy here.

More great initiatives from the Arohena team. Nice Work!

Team WilksPenny were out in force with their new range of Beta Motorcycles for people to have a look at and test out.

Back out for one more loop with the boys.

The track near where Daz had some issues.

The reason I did more than a few loops.

Product placement with a stunning view makes the product more appealing - Neken Bars anyone?

Cheers to the Arohena School trail Ride team. Thanks for the day out and I look forward to next year.
